The DP World Tour looks to put a cap on its ‘Opening Swing’ of the 2026 season with this week’s AfrAsia Mauritius Open.
This event was first played in 2015 and this year will mark its ninth playing.
Last year, this event was held at the Mont Choisy Le Golf for the second time in tournament history.
This year, Heritage La Réserve Golf Links will once again play host, marking the second time that this course has hosted the event with 2023 being the first time.
Previously, the Le Château Golf Course, also part of the Heritage Golf Club, played host in 2015, 2017 and 2019.
This will be the final event played for the DP World Tour on the calendar year and will be the last played until the Dubai Invitational beginning on January 15th.
This event is also co-sanctioned between the DP World Tour and the Sunshine Tour.
The Field
Being the final event of the calendar year and in Mauritius, this is annually one of the weaker fields we see on the DP World Tour.
Jayden Schaper, fresh off his victory at last week’s Alfred Dunhill Championship, comes into this week as one of the favorites to win.
Additionally, Ryan Gerard of the PGA Tour will tee it up this week along with fellow 2025 DP World Tour winners Daniel Brown, Eugenio Chacarra, Dylan Naidoo, John Parry and Ryggs Johnston.
Other notable attendees this week are Angel Ayora, Jacob Skov Olesen, Alex Fitzpatrick, Christo Lamprecht, among others.
Parry comes in as the defending champion who edges both Naidoo and Lamprecht by two strokes to claim his second DP World Tour title and his first in over 14 years.
Dylan Frittelli (2017) and George Coetzee (2015) are the only other former winners of this event teeing it up this week.
The Course
As previously mentioned, the Louis Oosthuizen designed La Reserve Links is making its second appearance on the DP World Tour this week.
It has been described as one of the finest new courses in the world. It is also one-of-its-kind within the Indian Ocean with Oosthuizen’s extensive links expertise put on display.
It sits along the shores of Mauritius and is carved into hills that sit close to the south of the coastline and will receive a much deserved spotlight this week.
It was co-designed by Peter Matkovich, along with Oosthuizen and is the fourth different course to stage the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
The course was 'inspired by the wonderful old links of Ireland and Scotland.’
La Reserve Links plays as a Par 72 at 7,111 yards.
It features undulating fairways, pot bunkers and rolling pristine greens.
Through all of this, the course offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the neighboring Indian Ocean.

Betting Card
Eugenio Chacarra (+2500)
I’ve been vocal on the Out of the Rough Podcast that Chacarra is simply one of the better talents the DP World Tour has to offer. Both last year and especially this year. He held the 36-hole lead last week in South Africa and went on to place third in a weather shortened event. Prior to that, he placed 28th at the Nedbank Golf Challenge. He won the Hero Indian Open, on a very tough golf course, a season ago. He has what it takes to get across the finish line. Through the early stages of this DP World Tour season, he is currently third on Tour in SG: OTT, 13th in par-five average scoring, 25th in GIR%, 45th in SG: PUTT, 47th in scrambling, 56th in sand saves percentage, 57th in SG: APP and 60th in driving accuracy.
Daniel Van Tonder (+6500)
There are fewer people on this planet who play South African golf better than Van Tonder. As a member of the HotelPlaner Tour a season ago, he won both the SDC Open and MyGolfLife Open in South Africa. He went on to place sixth at the Cell C Cape Town Open and NTT DATA Pro Am. He also placed fifth at the Joburg Open on the DP World Tour a season ago. So far this season, he placed 14th last week at the Alfred Dunhill Championship and tenth at the Nedbank Golf Challenge. He also placed T40th at this event in 2023 when it was held at the same golf course. So far this season, Van Tonder is currently first on Tour in par-five average scoring, fourth in SG: APP, fifth in SG: OTT, tenth in sand saves percentage, 34th in GIR%, 42nd in scrambling, 48th in driving accuracy and 80th in SG: PUTT.
Stefano Mazzoli (+7500)
Mazzoli was brilliant on the HotelPlanner Tour a season ago, despite lacking a victory. He had three top fives, including a runner-up performance at the Rolex Grand Final. He also had nine top ten finishes as well. He hasn’t played since Australia where he placed 23rd at the Crown Australian Open and 25th at the BMW Australian PGA Championship. So far this season he is sixth on Tour in GIR%, 28th in SG: APP, 33rd in scrambling, 36th in both driving accuracy and SG: PUTT, 58th in par-five average scoring, 61st in SG: OTT and 84th in sand saves percentage.
Davis Bryant (+7500)
Bryant was great through his first two starts of the season, placing 14th at the BMW Australian PGA Championship and 12th at the Crown Australian Open. He too had some quality outings on the DP World Tour last season, highlighted by a tenth place finish at the Italian Open, fourth at the BMW International Open and 13th at the Betfred British Masters. He is currently second on Tour in scrambling, seventh in driving accuracy, 13th in sand saves percentage, 28th in SG: PUTT, 33rd in both GIR% and par-five average scoring, 42nd in SG: APP and 76th in SG: OTT.
Jonathan Broomhead (+13000)
Through his first two starts of the season, Broomhead placed T33rd at the BMW Australian PGA Championship and T23rd at the Alfred Dunhill Championship. Last season on the Sunshine Tour, he finished with a T36th at The Hyundai Open, missed cut at the Blu Label Unlimited Challenge and T5th at the Fortress Invitational. He too was a winner on the Sunshine Tour last season, winning the Sunbet Challenge. So far this season on the DP World Tour he is 13th in sand saves percentage, 22nd in both SG: APP and SG: OTT, 23rd in scrambling, 24th in SG: PUTT, 38th in both driving accuracy and par-five average scoring and 40th in GIR%.
Jack Buchanan (+40000)
So far this season, Buchanan has played two events, placing T18th at the Crown Australian Open and T48th at the BMW Australian PGA Championship. On Tour he is currently 13th in sand saves percentage, 24th in both SG: OTT and driving accuracy, 27th in GIR%, 29th in scrambling, 36th in SG: APP, 42nd in par-five average scoring and 81st in SG: PUTT.
