The DP World Tour looks to put a cap on its ‘Closing Swing’ with this week’s Danish Golf Championship.
It will be held for the first time at the Furesø Golf Klub in Copenhagen this season.
This event, formerly known as the Made in HimmerLand and Made in Denmark, was first played in 2014 and has been ever present on the DP World Tour’s schedule since.
Thomas Bjorn, Denmark's most successful golfer with 15 DP-World Tour victories, has assumed the role of chairman for this event once more.
From here, the DP World Tour will enter its ‘Back 9’ swing with next week’s Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo.
The Field
This week’s field will be headlined by Denmark’s most notable current golfers and twin brothers Rasmus and Nicolai Hojgaard.
Other notable Danish golfers teeing it up this week include Niklas Norgaard, Thorbjorn Olesen, Jeff Winther, Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen, Hamish Brown, Lucas Bjerregaard and Bjorn.
Notable DP World Tour regulars teeing it up this week include Marco Penge, Daniel Brown, Adrien Saddier, Nicolai Von Dellingshausen, Kristoffer Reitan, Eugenio Chacarra, Julien Guerrier and Ewen Ferguson.
With the PGA Tour entering the FedEx Cup Playoffs, many of the European based PGA Tour regulars who have not advanced to the BMW Championship will also be in attendance this week.
Some of those names include Matt Wallace, Jesper Svensson, Sami Valimaki and Jeremy Paul.
Frederic LaCroix won last year’s installment at Lübker Golf Course by four strokes over both Bjerregaard and Romain Langasque to claim his maiden DP World Tour victory.
The Course
Furesø Golf Club plays as a par-71 at 7,026 yards.
It’s deemed as one of the best golf courses in Denmark and is best described as a parkland style course that has multiple ponds in play throughout.
It was founded in 1975 and was laid out on land donated by the council.
It was originally constructed as a par-three course but was expanded to a nine-hole course and by 1989, was formed to a full 18-hole layout.
In 2015, in celebration of the course’s 40th birthday, the new Fuereso course was opened, expanding the venue to 27-holes with three nine-hole loops. The original 18-hole championship course comprises the Farum and Hestkobsgard nines.
During the 2015 renovation, every green, green complex and every bunker throughout the property were rebuilt.
Situated in a protected area, the course is surrounded by history.
That history is prevalent with the historic Hestkobgaard, a former farmhouse dating back to the 14th century, that sits in the center of the property. The historic structure now serves as the courses’ clubhouse and houses a restaurant.
As for the course, off-the-tee, golfers will look to avoid strategically placed hazards, such as ponds and sand bunkers.
The course is known for its lush greenery, which includes heavily three lined fairways.
Although some of the course’s fairways are guarded by trees, others are wide open, allowing for a mixture of both bombers-and-plotters to attack this course.
The course consists of four par-fives, nine par-fours and five par-threes, a unique combination of holes.
The fairways and rough are fescue as the greens are bentgrass.

Betting Card
Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen (+1400)
Full transparency, I used boosts to get Neergaard-Petersen closed to 20/1. I’d still play him at 14/1. I absolutely love him this week. He is currently third on the DP World Tour in total driving, eighth in sand saves percentage, 12th in both SG: OTT and par-five average scoring, 23rd in SG: APP, 36th in scrambling, 43rd in par three average scoring and 62nd in SG: PUTT. We last saw Neergaard-Petersen at the Genesis Scottish Open where he missed the cut but placed 14th at the BMW International Open prior. Let’s also not forget he went 14th at the U.S. Open this season
Andy Sullivan (+3500)
In taking a total driving approach into this golf course, I’d like to see a balance between both accuracy and distance but if a golfer were to excel one way or another, that could work as well. Sullivan is short off the tee but above-average in accuracy. He is currently 11th in par-three average scoring, 18th in scrambling, 29th in SG: APP, 63rd in SG: PUTT, 69th in total driving, 76th in par-five average scoring, 89th in SG: OTT and 93rd in sand saves percentage. Sullivan has also been in great form as of late. He placed seventh last week at the Nexo Championship. Prior to that he placed 17th at the Genesis Scottish Open, missed the cut at the BMW International Open, 33rd at the Italian Open, seventh at the KLM Open, 17th at the Austrian Alpine Open and 11th at the Soudal Open.
Jacob Skov Olesen (+4500)
Olesen has been one of my most bet golfers on the DP World Tour this season. That is for good reason however. He is currently 16th on Tour in sand saves percentage, 18th in par-three average scoring, 25th in SG: APP, 58th in total driving, 64th in par-five average scoring, 71st in SG: PUTT, 73rd in both SG: OTT and scrambling. He’s found some form recently, placing third last week at the Nexo Championship. Prior to that he did make the cut at The Open Championship.
Freddy Schott (+20000)
Schott has missed back-to-back cuts coming into this week but that is also baked into his massive price. He did make three cuts recently at the Austrian Alpine Open, KLM Open and Italian Open. Schott is currently 18th on Tour in par-three average scoring, 20th in total driving, 26th in sand saves percentage, 34th in par-five average scoring, 37th in SG: OTT, 52nd in SG: PUTT, 67th in scrambling and 115th in SG: APP.
