LIV Golf Tour returns to action this week for the third playing of the HSBC LIV Golf Hong Kong.

This event was first played as part of the LIV Golf Tour in 2024 and has been a staple of the Tour since, even renewed for a visit in 2027.

This is also the first LIV Golf event in the Tour’s short four-year history to feature a title sponsor - HSBC.

The Fanling Course, a composite of three courses, at the Hong Kong Golf Club will play host this week.

The Hong Kong Golf Club has hosted the country’s Open Championship every year since 1959. It is one of just three events in history to feature the same venue for more than six decades.

This is also the first of a three-week-consecutive event run for LIV Golf leading into the Masters in early April.

The Field

All of LIV Golf’s stars will be in attendance this week, looking to find form between this event and the next two before they head to Augusta National in April.

The likes of Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, Cam Smith and others look to break through and record a victory that has been escaping the Tour’s big three for some time.

Sergio Garcia comes in as the defending champion, winning by three strokes over Dean Burmester a season ago. Garcia’s victory helped spearhead the Fireballs GC to a team victory a season ago as well.

The Fireballs GC must enjoy this venue as Abraham Ancer won here in 2024, although it was the Crushers GC who won the team title.

The Course

The Fanling Course at the Hong Kong Golf Club is a composite of all three 18-hole courses that the venue has.

It plays as a par-70 at just over 6,700 yards.

Hong Kong Golf Club, touted as one of Asia’s most historic and prestigious venues, was founded in 1889.

It’s a short positional golf course that has seen shorter hitters off-the-tee claim the previous two titles.

The fairways are tree-lined and missing the fairways will be penal.

The two most difficult holes on the golf course end each nine. The par-four dogleg-left 493-yard ninth hole and the par-four 410-yard 18th are the two most difficult holes on the golf course.

The short par-five 429-yard 13th hole is a must birdie, or even eagle, as it is the easiest hole on the course.

Holes 13 and 17 share a large double-green, leading to potentially long putts.

The Weather

As of the time of writing this, there is just a ten-percent chance of precipitation on Thursday, a 20-percent chance on Friday, a ten-percent chance on Saturday and a five-percent chance on Sunday. Temperatures will begin the week at 69-degrees on Thursday. From there, temperatures will increase to 70-degrees on Friday before returning to 69-degrees on Saturday. Temperatures will return to 70-degrees on Sunday. Winds are set at 13 miles-per-hour on Thursday, 12 miles-per-hour on Friday and 15 miles-per-hour for both Saturday and Sunday.
