Spanning nearly ten months, four continents and 24 countries, the 2026 DP World Tour regular season is coming to an end with this week's Genesis Championship.

This event was first staged in 2023 and was held in the spring. It was moved to its new end-of-the-regular-season time slot two years ago and will continue to occupy that slot this season.

The first two installments of this event were staged at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Incheon, South Korea. Last year, we saw a change of scenery, moving to the Woo Jeong Hills Country Club, located in South Chungcheong.

This season, the event will once again be held at the Woo Jeong Hills Country Club for a season time.

With this week serving as the final stop of the regular-season, this is the final chance for golfers to crack the top 70 of the season-long Race to Dubai Rankings and qualify for the first of two DP World Tour play-off events, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

This week’s event is also co-sanctioned between the DP World Tour and the Korean Tour to continue the efforts in strengthening the relationship between the two tours.

The Field

With much of the field locked into their placement for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in two week's time and the regular PGA Tour talent making their rounds on the DP World Tour opting out this week in favor for India a week ago, the field this week leaves a bit to be desired for an end-of-the-season event.

South Korea’s Si Woo Kim and Sungae Im are not only looking to win on home soil but will come in as odds-on-favorites to win this week’s event.

The Open Championship winner Ryan Fox will also help headline this week’s field.

Eugenio Chacarra comes in as the highest ranked DP World Tour member within the Race to Dubai Standings, currently sitting second to Patrick Reed.

Just Casey Jarvis, Jacob Skov Olesen and Bernd Wiesberger help represent the top ten of the current Race to Dubai Standings of those in line for a PGA Tour card next season.

As previously mentioned, all eyes will be on the top-70 cut line within the Race to Dubai standings to see who will be teeing it up in two week's time for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

As it currently sits, the first five within the cut line are Martin Couvra, Joost Luiten, Wenyi Ding, Yurav Premlall and Si Woo Kim. All of which will be playing this week.

The first five currently on the wrong side of the top 70 cut line are Nathan Kimsey, Richard Sterne, Ugo Coussaud, Darius Van Driel and Antoine Rozner. Again, all are slated to tee it up this week in South Korea.

South Korea’s own Junghwan Lee comes in as the defending champion, winning the first installment at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club by three strokes over Nacho Elvira and Laurie Canter. Elvira will also play this week in hopes of bettering his position from a season ago.

The Course

Woo Jeong Hills Country Club in South Chungcheong, which sits approximately 90 minutes from Seoul, will play host for the second time.

Although playing host to this event for the second time, this course is well known to South Koreans and the Korean Tour.

It has hosted the Korea Open on a number of occasions, seeing names such as John Daly claim victory here.

It was opened in 1993 and designed by Perry Dye, the son of legendary golf architect and mastermind behind TPC Sawgrass, Pete Dye.

This course is as close to a big-brash American championship course that South Korea has to offer as the municipal and corporate golf setting dominates the scene.

It plays as a par-71 at 7,225 yards.

Off-the-tee, golfers will be faced with a number of hazards, including steep undulating fairways and 12 water hazards, all framed by the nearby forested mountains.

From there, golfers will take approach shots into challenging green complexes.

The course plays much like that of a certain Pete Dye design in Ponte Verde Beach, Florida and many of the holes are reminiscent of that famed course.

The front nine is highlighted by the par-five fifth with a hazard, trees and flower beds flanking the right side of the fairway with views of the surrounding mountains framing the hole in the distance.

The back nine, of course, is featured by the signature 221-yard par-three 13th that plays onto a tiny island green. No surprise there.

The daunting par-five 18th is also a fantastic finishing hole with a green surrounded by a grassed amphitheater.

In all, this is a course not often seen or featured when it comes to Asian golf. It should be a good one.

The Weather

As of the time of writing this, Thursday is calling for essentially a zero-percent chance of precipitation. Friday is calling for a five-percent chance and Saturday a 15-percent chance. Sunday is calling for a 45-percent chance of morning showers. Temperatures will be the lowest on Thursday with highs of 61-degrees. From there, temperatures will leap to a high of 69-degrees on Friday and will peak at 72-degrees on Saturday. Temperatures will settle to a high of 71-degrees on Sunday. Winds will be minimal as well, with Thursday calling for just five miles-per-hour, Friday four miles-per-hour, Saturday four miles-per-hour and Sunday five miles-per-hour winds.

Betting Card

Sungjae Im (+1250)

Let’s keep things simple here. With Jung-hwan Lee’s victory here a season ago, it is glaringly obvious that a bit of home town flair goes a long way. Im last played the SJM Macao Open on the Asian Tour where he placed second. Prior to that he placed T9th at the Baycurrent Classic, T10th at the BMW Championship, T5th at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T14th at the Wyndham Championship and T15th at the Rocket Classic on the PGA Tour. You’ll be hard pressed to find someone in better overall form than Im currently is. Im’s problem across the season has been the irons, which we know him as a world class ball striker across his career. He gained with the irons at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and Rocket Classic within that aforementioned run of form I listed prior. This shows that the irons are coming back around and once they do, he’ll be in the winner’s circle. We can just hope that playing on home soil will ignite something within him this week.

Daniel Hillier (+1800)

I posted on X the other day that I was going to be baited into betting Hillier this week and here we are. I believe there's a good reason for that however. He is currently fourth on Tour in ball striking, fifth in birdie-or-better percentage, ninth in SG: OTT, 13th in SG: APP, 15th in bogey avoidance, 39th in driving accuracy percentage, 45th in SG: PUTT, 73rd in scrambling and 157th in SG: ATG. Hillier has also been in great form as of late. He was the runner-up last week at the DP World India Championship. Prior to that he placed 26th at the Open de Espana, 30th at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, 36th at the BMW PGA Championship, 46th at the Amgen Irish Open and second at the Husqvarna British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo. He also played this event a season ago, although placing T38th, but he has at least seen this course before.

Adrian Otaegui (+6600)

My ‘longshot’ this week is Otaegui who feels made for a golf course like this. He is currently tenth on Tour in SG: ATG, 13th in driving accuracy percentage, 17th in SG: APP, 29th in scrambling, 39th in bogey avoidance, 76th in SG: PUTT, 104th in ball striking, 125th in birdie-or-better percentage and 165th in SG: OTT. Otaegui is also in great form coming into this week. He placed ninth last week at the DP World India Championship, seventh at the Open de Espana, 44th at the FedEx Open de France and 39th at the BMW PGA Championship. Otaegui’s form comes and goes. Earlier this season he had a stretch of events between the Investec South African Open Championship and the Volvo China Open where he placed sixth, sixth, third, 61st and second. He then missed a bunch of cuts in a row. It seems he’s in the midst of one of his runs of form and at a course like this, he could find himself in the winners circle just based on consistency. He placed T42nd here a season ago.

2025 Betting Card

  • Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen (+1400) - T65th

  • Keita Nakajima (+2500) - T54th

  • Francesco Laporta (+6600) - T14th

  • Ewen Ferguson (+6600) - T42nd

  • Kazuma Kobori (+12500) - MC
