Out of the Rough: LIV Golf Bedminster (2026)

Amidst further uncertainty of the LIV Golf Tour and what the future holds, the Tour will continue play for this week’s LIV Golf Bedminster.

Trump National Golf Club Bedminster hosted LIV Golf events back in 2022 and 2023 but has been absent from the schedule across the last two seasons.

Now, the Tour will return to the New Jersey based venue for the penultimate event of the Tour’s 2026 campaign.

Outside of hosting LIV Golf Tour events in both 2022 and 2023, Trump National Golf Club Bedminster also hosted the 2017 U.S. Women’s Open.

The Field

As the LIV Golf Tour enters its penultimate event of the season, all of the Tour’s stars will be in attendance this week.

That includes Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau who have both won two events so far this season.

Lucas Herbert, winner of the latest LIV Golf Tour event, LIV Golf UK, will also be eyeing his third victory of the season as he also won LIV Golf Virginia.

Names such as Thomas Detry, Branden Grace, David Puig, Scott Vincent, Marc Leishman, Dean Burmester, Abraham Ancer and Cameron Smith are looking for their first victory of the season.

Rahm has all but secured the individual season-long title, leading second-place DeChambeau by 219.04 points.

Unlike the individual title race, the team title race is much closer. 4Aces GC (Dustin Johnon, Anthony Kim, Thomas Pieters and Detry) currently leads second-place Ripper GC (Smith, Leishman, Hervert and Elvis Smylie) by just 2.75 points. Third place Legio XIII (Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, Caleb Surratt and Tom McKibbin) trails 4Aces GC by 12-points as well.

If the Tour is to continue on, we need to pay attention to the “Drop Zone” as well with just two events to play.

Paul Casey (78.86,) Richard Bland (78.10,) Cameron Tringale (76.54,) Adrian Meronk (76.03) and Jason Kokrak (75.9) are the first five names within the “Battle Zone” and are currently safe.

Luis Masaveu (73.86,) Yosuke Asaji (73.48,) Ben Campbell (63.45,) Martin Kaymer (56.25) and Bjorn Hellgren (55.31) are the first first names within the “Drop Zone” and are battling to maintain their status within the LIV Golf Tour.

The Course

The Old Course at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster will take center stage this week as the pristinely-manicured property returns to hosting professional golf for the first time since 2003.

This is a Tom Fazio design that was opened to private members in 2004.

It plays as a par-72 at 7,781 yards.

Off-the-tee, golfers will face wide, tree-lined fairways that are littered with white sand bunkers.

Water serves as the course’s main line of defense, coming into play on almost half of the holes.

Water is most notable on the 438-yard sixth hole that features an island green. This island green is said to be the largest in “Fazio Golf Design” history at 14,000 square feet. This green is large enough to accommodate four normal sized putting surfaces.

Golfers will play onto these large greens that can vary upwards of three clubs on approach, depending on the pin placement. Playing to the center of the greens is the safe route this week.

The Bentgrass greens are heavily contoured, well undulated and include sweeping slopes.

The greens are protected by deep surrounding bunkers and tricky run-off areas, looking to swallow any errant approach shot.

This course is highlighted by its challenging two-hole stretch on the back nine coming home, including the par-five 15th and par-three 16th. The par-three 16th plays over water right below the clubhouse.

The Weather

As of the time of writing this, Thursday calls for a 45-percent chance of scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon. Friday is calling for a 45-percent chance of scattered thunderstorms. Saturday is calling for a 45-percent chance of afternoon thunderstorms and Sunday calls for a 25-percent chance of precipitation. Temperatures will begin the week at 86-degrees before increasing to 88-degrees on Friday. Temperatures will drop to 87-degrees on Saturday before returning to 88-degrees on Sunday. Winds are set at just six miles-per-hour across all four days.

David Puig (+2000)

Beyond Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm, Puig topped my stats based model this week. He is currently third on Tour in total driving, fifth in birdie-or-better percentage, ninth in GIR%, 16th in scrambling and 18th in putting average. He placed 12th at LIV Golf UK most recently. He did play both The Open Championship and Genesis Scottish Open where he missed the cut. He placed 48th at the DS Automobiles 83 Open D’Italia on the DP World Tour. On the LIV Golf Tour he also placed fifth in Andalucia, 33rd in Korea, 12th in Korea and second in Mexico City. He did play both of the two previous installments of this event at Bedminster, placing 27th in 2023 and 42nd in 2022.

Thomas Detry (+3300)

This is a guy I constantly gravitate towards. He hasn’t been playing his best golf as of late and that’s why we’re getting a juicy number next to his name. Most recently he placed 31st at LIV Golf UK. He placed T40th at The Open Championship. On LIV he’s placed fifth in Andalucia, 33rd in Korea, sixth in Virginia, fifth in Mexico City and third in South Africa. Detry is currently sixth on Tour in scrambling, eighth in birdie-or-better percentage, ninth in total driving, 13th in GIR% and 22nd in putting average. 

Scott Vincent (+6000)

Vincent has been in great form on LIV across his last six starts. He placed 28th at LIV Golf UK, 15th in Andalucia, third in Korea, eighth in Virginia, fourth in Mexico City and 11th in South Africa. He did play The Open Championship where he missed the cut but was tenth at the International Series Morocco presented by Visit Morocco. He too played both of the previous two installments at Bedminster where he placed 38th in 2023 and 42nd in 2022. On the LIV Golf Tour, Vincent is currently eighth in scrambling, 12th in GIR%, 19th in birdie-or-better percentage, 24th in putting average and 31st in total driving.
